It is a myth that marital relationships can survive with one spouse suffering of chronic pain condition like chronic migraine and fibromyalgia. Pain conditions will take a psychological toll on both partners and may ruin relationships.

Symptoms of migraine include head pain, sensitivity to light and sound, nausea, vomiting, lack of concentration, scalp tenderness, worsening of symptoms with bending over or going up the stairs or doing very simple household activities. This may make sufferers prisoners in a quiet dark room, disabled and being not able to participate in normal life.

Fibromyalgia is a chronic disorder characterized by widespread all body pain, fatigue, and multiple "tender points," particularly in the neck, spine, shoulders, and hips, sleep disturbances, morning stiffness, and anxiety.

It is unhealthy to continue with untreated chronic pain conditions with the effects on marital and family life.
